So, a few months ago I received an email from PDN (Photo District News) saying that someone (STILL have no idea who) nominated me to apply for the Rising Stars competition. I remember reading it over & over & over because I simply couldn’t believe it. With the help of some critical eyes, I submitted a brief portfolio to them. Then, a month ago….a month ago (it’s been torturous to not tell) I found out that I had actually been chosen. I still can’t believe it. Honestly. To the person that nominated me…I will FOREVER be thankful.
Back in college I would read PDN (and still do!) admiring all of their featured photographers. To be included in this incredibly special collection of photographers seemed so far off but I had hoped that, one day, it would happen. Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of my work-you’re like family to me.
xoxoKatie

I recently did a mini shoot for Janie Medley’s amazing florals and here are some snippets from it. Can you believe she found these peonies at Whole Foods!?!

Last year, I had the exciting opportunity to photograph a cookbook for Esquire’s chef of the year, Barton Seaver. This was a labor of love and I couldn’t be more in awe with how it turned out. It arrives in stores everywhere on May 3rd! It’s over 300 pages of delicious recipes that are kind to the environment and your well being. Also, Barton’s new website was just launched this morning and it is just as beautiful as the book.
A huge thank you x a million to Carrie Anne from Anemone Design for not just making the process much easier but also putting together a book that we are beyond proud of.

My friend took me to Brix in Napa for brunch and it was, by far, one of the most amazing meals I’ve ever had. I probably looked like an idiot walking around with a plate of food and trying to take photos at the same time BUT I was excited to be there. Enjoy post #3 of today!

You can rent the space out for weddings & events too! I absolutely love the yellow/white draping.
Of course the wine is unbelievable there.

While in Napa, we went to the original Bouchon Bakery which was SO tiny but worth the wait. If you ever get to go…definitely grab a box of their sea salt caramels.
