Paris in the country

Today is a big day! This shoot is on Wedding Chicks today as a TWO part feature…couldn’t be happier about that. This shoot was inspired by the romantic idea of a girl (who we named Madeline) from the country who finds love in Paris while going to college. It was only fitting that her wedding combined the two places she loves…the rolling hills of Virginia tied with the chic elegance of Paris. We fell in love with the large number of wedding dresses in blush tones this year and pairing them with gold & velvet accents.

shot with fuji 400h and portra 800

Named one of PDN’s Rising Stars for 2012!!!!

So, a few months ago I received an email from PDN (Photo District News) saying that someone (STILL have no idea who) nominated me to apply for the Rising Stars competition. I remember reading it over & over & over because I simply couldn’t believe it. With the help of some critical eyes, I submitted a brief portfolio to them. Then, a month ago….a month ago (it’s been torturous to not tell) I found out that I had actually been chosen. I still can’t believe it. Honestly. To the person that nominated me…I will FOREVER be thankful.

Back in college I would read PDN (and still do!) admiring all of their featured photographers. To be included in this incredibly special collection of photographers seemed so far off but I had hoped that, one day, it would happen. Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of my work-you’re like family to me.

xoxoKatie

A lovely tidbit.

Ashley’s Miami Bridal Shoot

A little while ago, I flew down to Miami for Ashley’s bridal shoot at Vizcaya (aka my dream house haha). It was the perfect setting for someone who is equally as stunning. All of these were shot with Fuji 400h (for those who are wondering).

I hope you like them!

Arielle: Bridal.

I LOVED this dress that Arielle wore. It was so light and airy while being fun & stylish (It is made by Free People). Also, what a great alternative to a “bridal gown”! Her session was shot entirely in film…and in the snow as you’ll see. Luckily, the sun was out in full force but I love the results.

Enjoy & thanks so much for checking these out!

xoxoKatie

PLUS…it is being featured on the HOMEPAGE of Love Olio!

Andrea.

Andrea is one of those girls where the moment you meet her, you want to be best friends with her. She is actually already married but her dress is very special to her since it was her mom’s and then Andrea’s friend tailored it to suit Andrea’s style a little better. This was shot entirely in film and I feel as though that is more & more the direction I’m going in for everything. I haven’t picked up my digital camera in months and it feels SO good to slow down and focus on getting exactly what I want.

Thanks for checking these out!

xoxoKatie

Andrea is holding a photo from her parent’s wedding where her mom is wearing the same dress.

The photo on the right (below) was shot with white pantyhose over the lens. It’s different than I expected but I love the rich outcome.

Love her Marc Jacob’s shoes!

Also, I forgot to mention that is was 27 degrees outside that day! Can you believe how amazing Andrea looks in such cold weather!?! I wish I was her.
