Andrea.

Andrea is one of those girls where the moment you meet her, you want to be best friends with her. She is actually already married but her dress is very special to her since it was her mom’s and then Andrea’s friend tailored it to suit Andrea’s style a little better. This was shot entirely in film and I feel as though that is more & more the direction I’m going in for everything. I haven’t picked up my digital camera in months and it feels SO good to slow down and focus on getting exactly what I want.

Thanks for checking these out!

xoxoKatie

Andrea is holding a photo from her parent’s wedding where her mom is wearing the same dress.

The photo on the right (below) was shot with white pantyhose over the lens. It’s different than I expected but I love the rich outcome.

Love her Marc Jacob’s shoes!

Also, I forgot to mention that is was 27 degrees outside that day! Can you believe how amazing Andrea looks in such cold weather!?! I wish I was her.

I LOVE that you used all film in this. You have impeccable talent. I am a film fan as well (haven’t used it in forever) and it requires MUCH more skill than digital…way to go with these shots - they’re breath-taking. (especially the one on the right that’s black and white of her hair blowing in the wind. AMAZING).

These came out gorgeous! Great job using film. I learned on film and actually even developed all my own film. I ruined lots of clothes in that old photo lab. I love the pantyhose idea. Very clever.

And so cool to be able to wear your mom’s dress and have it tailored. What a great idea!

GORGEOUS! I would have had NO idea it was cold outside if you didn’t tell us, what a trooper!

Absolutely stunning Katie! I love the creaminess of this session. She seriously is a trooper for making this shoot look effortless and warm out! ADORE her shoes and necklace!

Really nice work! Love the softness of it all, and you can obviously relate well with your clients. I really like the one where she’s looking down, and you’re shooting through her hair (the big one).

I think you’re in the same place I am, re film. I’ve been shooting digitally for years, for my clients, but shooting film for my personal work. I realized I loved the way film looked a lot better, and I was cheating my portrait clients out of that something special. So I took the plunge about six months ago and started shooting my client work on film as well. A little hair-raising at times, but I’m so glad I did! I’ll hang onto the dSLRs for the occasional commercial work, but they don’t get much use other than as a ‘digital polaroid’ to test lighting anymore.
