Marget & Seth’s Romantic Connecticut Wedding

9 / 20

I don’t really like to write a whole bunch on this blog because I want the images to stand out rather than getting lost from a long winded speech about why each couple is more amazing than the last. However, I feel that this wedding deserves more. Marget & Seth were married at the Eolia Mansion in Harness State Park in Connecticut. This place is just magical. It rained & rained but I think it only emphasized the romance between these two. The moment you meet Marget & Seth, you wish they were your best friends. Welcoming and completely in love. There is no doubt that they were meant for one another.

As Marget first appeared walking down the aisle, Seth gasped.

Seth is a literary agent so there were vintage books as well as the books he represents all over the mansion. So cool!

Here are some words from Marget:

“We were married in a garden that I played in as a child, and we drew inspiration from the lush greens of Harkness’s natural beauty by choosing simple design elements only decorated with florals. Seth and I feel so blessed by the family and friends in our lives, and wanted our wedding to feel inclusive and convivial. Our siblings stood with us under the chuppah and our best friends were our bridal party. In memory of departed loved ones, we read excerpts from letters Seth’s grandparents wrote as a young couple during WWII. We wanted the words of our wedding day to be personal and meaningful, and asked our reader and seven blessers to choose readings that spoke to them. We asked family friends to serve as our Justice of the Peace and to deliver the wedding homily, and honored our heritage by incorporating Methodist and Jewish traditions into the ceremony. For the mansion reception, we filled the bookshelves with novels written by friends and Seth’s clients. Many decor elements were handcrafted by me and a special bridesmaid. We chose long tables with seasonal food served family style in order to encourage conversation, and it was such a joy to see friends from opposing parts of the world finding common ground. Finally, we wanted to really celebrate the expansive joy we felt, and our DJ was amazing, bringing the whole party onto the dance floor!”

Katie Stoops Photography through Lurid Pictures’ Eyes

9 / 18

In the early Spring, Lurid Pictures dreamed up this idea to do a short film about Katie Stoops Photography. I was excited, flattered, and nervous that they’d want to do something like this. When I first saw it, I had chills…the music, which was custom composed & performed by Keith Grant, is perfect. A huge thank you to Alex Kent & Wade Vanover of Lurid…amazing job guys!

Here are some words about the film from Alex & Wade:

“It’s easy to imagine why a girl would grow up dreaming of her wedding day. There is something wondrous about weddings, from the gowns and the lights to the smiles on the faces. The feeling in the air is something unique, a communal recognition of love and dedication. We sought to explore that wonder through the eyes of a child.

This young girl is rather unique though. While in the midst of a wedding, the sights and sounds, she finds something else magical, her first camera. Through photography, we are fortunately able to capture more than images; we are able to hold onto moments, those feelings of wonder, forever.

Katie Stoops is a wedding photographer based out of Virginia. Her use of film and her eye for capturing those perfect moments give her work a sense of timelessness, classic depictions of that feeling in the air you hope to never forget.”
